Robert Sarver is the owner and businessman of the American sports team and has a net worth of US$800 million. After making a lot of money by starting several banks, he became famous for owning the NBA Phoenix Suns.
Robert Sarver was born on October 31, 1961 in Tucson, Arizona. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in business administration. At the age of twenty-three, he founded the Arizona National Bank, formerly known as the Tucson National Bank. Twelve years later, after it grew into the largest independent bank in Arizona, he sold it. A year later, he acquired Grossmount Bank, the largest bank in the San Diego area of California.
Sports ownership
As a lifelong basketball fan, Robert and a group of investors bought the Phoenix Suns for $400 million in 2004. Today, the value of the team is estimated at $1.55 billion. He also owns the Phoenix Mercury team of the WNBA.
His tenure as the team owner has been severely criticized for his “stingy” approach to the team. In addition to overseeing his team, he is also a board member of the Tucson Saffron Heart Center.
