Robert Rodarte was born in Keene, New Hampshire in 1953, and is known for “Saving Private Ryan” (1998), “Summer Friends” (1992), “Legends” (1995), “Flying Home” ( 1996) and The Patriot (2000).

In 2009, Rodat created “Falling Sky”, a science fiction series produced by Steven Spielberg, which revolves around the human survivors of a semi-post-apocalyptic world that evolved from an alien invasion. Rodart moved to Los Angeles (from his home state of New Hampshire) in hopes of making a film, but found himself writing screenplays during his ten years as a master’s student at the USC Film School. His first screenwriting credit was the 1992 HBO film “Summer Comrades,” about an American baseball manager (starring Joe Mantegna). After years of writing “canonical” scripts, Rodat has earned his first feature film credit for a project he co-wrote with USC alum and friend Steven L. Bloom called Tall Tale: The Unbelievable Adventures of Pecos Bill project, which won critical acclaim but failed to find a large audience. His delightful play “Fly Home” (with Vince McKean) follows a father (played by Jeff Daniels) and daughter (played by Anna Paquin) who teach them about adoption The story of how geese migrate. It was his script for Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan that ultimately propelled Rodart into the circle of first-line screenwriters.
