Robert Guillaume is an American Emmy Award-winning actor, voice actor and Broadway music star. He played “Benson” in the ABC sitcom Soap and “Isaac Jaffe” in “Sports Night”. His film works include The Lion King (1994), The First Child (1996) and Big Fish (2003). Guillaume was born Robert Peter Williams on November 30, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was mainly raised by his grandmother Janet Williams. The last name “Guillaume” adopted is William’s French. Guillaume graduated from Saint Joseph’s High School. He served briefly in the US Army (1945-47). He majored in business administration at St. Louis University and majored in music at Washington University in St. Louis.

The role was repeated in the spin-off series Benson (1979-86). Guillaume played “Frederick Douglas” in the miniseries “North and South” (1985), played “Bob Ballard” in Pacific Station (1991-92), and played “Sports Night” (1998). -2000) played “Isaac Jaffe”. Robert Guillaume passed away on October 24, 2017, at the age of 89. His official cause of death was prostate cancer. He died at his home in Los Angeles. Only one month away from his 90th birthday. Guillaume married his first wife “Marlene Williams” from 1955 to 1984. He was engaged to the actress “Fei Hauser”. His second wife was the TV producer “Donna Brown Guillaume”. Their union lasted from 1986 until his death. He has 5 children in total, Jacques (d. 1990). Patricia, Kevin, Melissa and Rachel. Guillaume is 5 feet 10 inches tall and is African American.
