Born in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1950, Robbie Coltrane studied and played rugby at Glenalmond College before attending Glasgow School of Art and Moray House School of Education.
Coltrane first started acting in his 20s, appearing in “The Comic Strip Presents”, “A Kick Up the Eighties”, “Alfresco” and “Laugh??? I Nearly Paid a License Fee”. Coltrane has been married to his wife Rhona Gemmell since 1999 and have two children together.
