Rita Gan is an American actress and documentary filmmaker. She was born on April 2, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She grew up in New York City.

Gam started performing on Broadway before dabbling in television and film. Her debut was the 1952 film noir “The Thief,” directed by Russell Routh. She received a Golden Globe nomination for Most Promising Female Newcomer. Other early films included Enchanted Fire (1955), Mohawk (1956) and King of Kings (1961). In 1962, Gam co-starred in “Estelle Rigault” in Tad Danielewski’s film No Exit. Her performance earned her a Silver Bear for Best Actress. Gam is close friends with actress Grace Kelly. She was a bridesmaid at Kelly’s wedding to Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956.
