Rico Nasty is an American rapper, songwriter and music producer. She is currently signed with Atlantic Records. Her music projects include Summer’s Eve (2014), Sugar Trap (2016), Tales of Tacobella (2017) and Nasty (2018). Rico Nasty was born in New York City on May 7, 1997, his original name is Maria-Cecilia Simone Kelly. Her mother is Puerto Rican and her father is African American. She is the only child. When Rico was 11 years old, he moved to Palmer Park, Maryland. She went to boarding school but was expelled for smoking marijuana. As a child, she played lacrosse and football.

Rico grew up after listening to Nas, Bob Marley, and Jill Scott. Before setting foot in the music field, she began to write poetry. Rico gave up her debut mixtape Summer’s Eve in May 2014. Her second project, Sugar Trap, followed in 2016. It was supported by the singles “Hey Arnold” and “Choppa in the Trunk” by WillThaRapper, ChellytheMC and Tino Loud. The remixed version of Hey Arnold in collaboration with Lil Yachty was released later in 2016. Rico’s third mixtape The Rico Story premiered in July 2016. These include songs such as “iCarly”, “FRiENDZONE” and “WinHiPS”, including SeanTheGod. She also produced a collaborative EP with Tino Loud, Cuffin Season (2016). Tacobella Tales of Rico arrived on May 19th. It invited Baby Ahk in the track “Cash Hoe”. She appeared in the soundtrack of “Furious Destiny” (2017) starring Van Diesel.

The second part of the Sugar Trap mixtape was released in October 2017. It was named one of the best rap albums of 2017 by the Rolling Stones. Sugar Trap 2 produced the singles “Poppin” and “Key Lime OG”. The rapper Famous Dex appeared in the track “White”. Poppin has more than 2 million views on SoundCloud and more than 400,000 views on YouTube, becoming a viral hit. This song was produced by WhoIsMike and the video is directed by RemyAllure. Rico signed with Atlantic Records in June 2018 and released her mixtape “Nasty”. The tape was produced by Kenny Beats, with guest performances by Blocboy JB and Lil Gnar.
