Richard Simmons is an American fitness guru and television personality. He is probably best known for his high-energy workout videos. He was born Milton Teague Simmons on July 12, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Cor Jesu High School and then Southwestern Louisiana University. Simmons later transferred to Florida State University, where he earned a degree in art. He briefly worked as a waiter and advertiser.
