Lars Ulrich is a Danish musician, producer and songwriter with a net worth of US$350 million. As one of the founding members of the American heavy metal band Metallica, Lars Ulrich earned his net worth. Ulrich was the first Danish to be elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, when Metallica received this honor in 2009.
early life
Russ was born on December 26, 1963 to a middle- and upper-class family in Gentoft, Denmark. Ulrich’s father, Torben Ulrich, was a widely acclaimed tennis player from the late 1940s to the early 1980s. Torben is also a musician in a jazz band, and he has played with some great figures including Stan Getz. Miles Davis and legendary saxophonist Dexter Gordon. Gordon also happens to be the godfather of Lars. When Russ was 9 years old, his father bought 5 tickets to watch the Deep Purple band perform at the Copenhagen Stadium. A friend his father invited dropped out at the last minute, so Russ came. Lars, who was fascinated by the performance, immediately bought their album “Fireball” and played it over and over again. He got his first drum kit when he was 12 years old.
For many years, Russ has been committed to becoming a professional tennis player like his father, but at the age of 16, he officially announced that he would focus on music. Despite this, he continues to play tennis and is even a highly ranked player in Denmark. However, in the summer of 1980, when he was 17 years old, Lars moved to Newport Beach, California, where he found himself unable to enter the local high school team.
At the age of nine, Lars was fascinated by the performances of the Deep Purple band, especially their album “Fireball”. Lars was also a tennis player when he was young. Drumming style
Lars Ulrich has changed his drumming style many times during his career. In the early 1980s, he was known for being fast, aggressive, and more or less basic beating. He often uses the double bass technique, which is very popular among heavy metal drummers today. In 1993, Lars Ulrich bought a large mansion in Tiburon, California (Marin County north of San Francisco) for $6 million. The sale also includes the house next door. This equates to approximately $10.6 million in expenditure today after adjusting for inflation. At some point, Lars bought the house on the other side of the main house and merged a 2 acre piece of land. The main house occupies 13,000 square feet and is one of the largest houses in Marin County. It is located at the highest point in Tiburon, overlooking San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. Russ also owns 140 acres of undeveloped land in another part of Marin County, where he has been planning to build a huge modern residence for more than a decade. Tired of quarreling with local officials, he listed the property for sale in 2015 for $39 million. Art collection
Lars Ulrich is an avid art collector. His collection once contained several works by Jean Michel Basquiat. In 2002, he sold one of his Basquiat works at auction for $5.5 million. At the same auction filmed in the Metallica documentary “A Kind of Monster,” Lars sold other paintings in his collection for a total of $12 million. He sold another Basquiat at the 2008 auction for $13.5 million.
