A graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Randall Cunningham was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 1985 NFL draft. He started off the bench in 1985, but he was already a starter in his second season.
From 1988 to 1990, Cunningham threw for 3,400 yards or more in three consecutive seasons and had a high touchdown interception percentage in all three years. He spent the 1995 season with the Hawks before announcing his retirement and working as an analyst at TNT in 1996. However, Cunningham’s retirement didn’t last long, resuming his career the following year. He was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as a backup in 1997 and took over as the starter in his second year with the team. He played for the Vikings until 1999, when they made him a free agent. Cunningham completed his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys in 2000 and the Baltimore Ravens in 2001. He then re-signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and retired permanently in 2002.
