Rasho Nesterovic was born in 1976 in Ljubljana, SFR Yugoslavia, Ljubljana, Slovenia, and played professional basketball in Partizan, Yugoslavia from 1992 to 1993. Before Minnesota, he played at PAOK in Greece, Union Olimpija in Slovenia and Kinder Bologna in Italy. In the first round of the 1998 NBA draft, the National Basketball Association Timberwolves selected him with the 17th pick in the first round.
Nesterovic played with the Timberwolves until 2003, and he joined the San Antonio Spurs until 2006. Nesterovic went on to play for the Toronto Raptors from 2006 to 2008, the Indiana Pacers from 2008 to 2009, and the Toronto Raptors for the second time from 2009 to 2010 in the 2010-2011 season , Nesterovic returned to Greece to play for Olympiacos. He was part of the 2005 NBA championship team in San Antonio. It was Nestrovic’s second career title; he was also part of the Kinder Bologna team that won the 1998 European Championship. Nesterovic finished his NBA career with 5,519 points, 4,143 rebounds and 934 blocks. He captained the Slovenian men’s national basketball team until his retirement in 2008.
