Piers Morgan is a British journalist, talk show host and editor. He has been a judge on America’s Got Talent and hosted the talk show Piers Morgan Live. Morgan was born Piers Stefan O’Meara on March 30, 1965 in Sussex, England. He lost his father Vincent when he was a toddler. His mother Gabriel remarried and he inherited the surname “Pughe-Morgan” from his stepfather. Morgan attended Connorhouse School, followed by Chaley School. He continued his education at Harlow College, where he obtained a degree in journalism.

Morgan began his career as a journalist in the mid-1980s. He has worked as a reporter for newspaper groups Surrey and South London. He joined The Sun in 1989 as entertainment editor for the gossip column. In 1994, Rupert Murdoch selected him as the new editor of the weekly tabloid News of the World. Morgan also serves as an editor and contributor to the Daily Mirror. He was sacked by the Mirror in 2004 after authorizing the release of fake photos. The photos reportedly show British soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners.
Morgan was one of the original judges on America’s Got Talent, along with David Hasselhoff and Brandy Norwood. He served six seasons from 2006 to 2011. He was replaced by Howard Stern in 2012. Morgan entered the contest and won the seventh season of Donald Trump’s reality show The Apprentice in 2008. He later hosted the talk show Piers Morgan Live, replacing CNN’s Larry King. The show ran for three seasons from 2011 to 2014. Morgan is also known for the chat show Piers Morgan’s Life Story and breakfast show Good Morning Britain.
