Earl Sweatshirt is an American rapper, music producer and member of Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA). His records include Doris (2013) and I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outdoor (2015). He is a frequent guest of the adult swimming sketch comedy series Loiter Squad (2013-14). Earle was born on February 24, 1994 in Chicago, Illinois, formerly known as Thebe Neruda Kgositsile. He is also known by the nicknames Sly Tendencies, RandomBlackDude and DJ Earl Fletcher. His father Keorapetse Kgositsile (d. 2018) is a South African poet, and his mother Cheryl Harris is a law professor. Earle attended UCLA Laboratory School in Los Angeles and then at New Road High School in Santa Monica. Due to poor grades and drug use, he was sent to the Coral Reef Academy in Samoa (2010-12).

Earle started his rap career under the stage name Sly Tendencies. His first project “Kitchen Tableware” was released through Myspace in 2008. Later he was discovered by producer Tyler, the Creator and invited him to join his rap group Odd Future. Earl Sweatshirt’s first mixed tape, Earl, was independently released in March 2010. The tape received positive reviews from publications such as Pitchfork and Complex. It features guest appearances by Vince Staples and Hodgy Beats. Radical, the first project of Earl’s collaboration with Odd Future, was released in May 2010. It produced four singles “Everything That’s Yours”, “Drop”, “Double Cheeseburger” and “Splatter”. The band’s first studio album The OF Tape Vol. 2. March 2012 is closely followed. It ranks number one on the top R&B/Hip-Hop album chart.

Earl’s first solo album Doris was released by Tan Cressida and Columbia Records in August 2013. This album is ranked 5th and 1st on the Billboard 200 and Top Rap Albums charts. It was supported by Casey Vegetable’s singles “Chum”, “Whoa” and “Hive”. Grammy-winning singer Frank Ocean appeared in the “Sunday” track. Earle’s second complete project, I don’t like shit, I don’t go out, and it arrived in March 2015. It sold 30,000 copies in the first week. Earl has produced music for companies such as Mac Miller, Lil Herb, Wiki and Currensy. He appeared in the single “Really Doe” on Danny Brown’s fourth album Atrocity Exhibition (2016).

Outside the studio, Earl Sweatshirt has appeared on TV many times. In 2013, he joined the main cast of Adult Swim’s Loiter Squad. The show ended in July 2014 after three seasons. Earle guest stars in “Party Legend” and “Bronson Action Watch Ancient Aliens”. He has performed David Letterman’s evening show and Jimmy Kimmel live broadcast on late-night talk shows! Late at night with Jimmy Fallon.
