Philip Niacos Net Worth
Philip Niakos Net Worth: Philip Niarchos is a Greek businessman with a net worth of $2.5 billion. Philip Niarchos was born in 1954, the eldest son of Greek shipping magnate Stavros Niarchos and Eugenia Livanos, the eldest daughter of Stavros Niarchos’ rival Stavros G. Livanos.
Niarchos and his brother Spyros are co-presidents and board members of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. He is also a board member of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Philip Niarchos is also a member of the International Council of the Tate Gallery, London. The Niarchos family’s story is full of Hollywood-movie drama – from love triangles and private islands to drug overdose and murder charges. Philip inherited most of his father’s art collection. Acquired in 1957 for $3 million from actor Edward G. Robinson, the Niarchos family’s art collection includes some of the world’s most recognizable works by some of the most important artists of the time. Said to be Van Gogh’s largest private collection, it includes self-portraits of the Dutch master after he chopped off his own ears. Niarchos also owns one of the most iconic works by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. The collection continued to grow under Philip, who added a number of post-war and contemporary works, including works by Andy Warhol and Maurizio Cattelan. After buying a self-portrait for a record $3.3 million in 1982, Philippe was praised by some for listing Haitian-American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat as an absolute master. In 1984 Niachos married Patrick’s daughter, Victoria Christina Guinness Benjamin Guinness (non-noble branch of a famous beer family) and Dolores Maria Agatha Wilhelmine Luise, Freiin von Fürstenberg-Hedringen . Niarchos and Guinness have two sons and two daughters.
