What is Phil Anselmo Net Worth?
Phil Anselmo is an American musician who has a net worth of $4 million. Anselmo is best known for being the lead singer of Pantera. He is also known for his work with bands like Down, Superjoint, Ritual and many other projects. In addition to his own solo music projects, Phil also owns Housecore Records. Widely regarded as one of the most iconic forwards in heavy metal history, Anselmo is beloved by fans for his lively and aggressive stage antics.
early life
Philip Hansen Anselmo was born on June 30, 1968 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Phil grew up in a family of Danish, Italian and French ancestry and grew up calling himself a “class clown”. At age 15, one of his pranks went wrong when his house caught fire. Although he was just trying to prank his sister, the fire got out of control and caused considerable damage. Anselmo spent most of his youth on a shrimping boat with his stepfather.

Anselmo’s musical career began in the early 1980s. He first co-founded the band Samhain before joining the band Rapid Phaze (later renamed Razor White). During this time Phil wrote songs, played guitar and sang. Eventually, Anselmo dropped out of high school to focus on his music career. However, he soon becomes frustrated with Razor White, and he leaves them to find new options.
The band that eventually became known as Pantera actually started as a Glam Metal band. However, by the time Anselmo connected with them, they had already taken a major turn. However, it wasn’t until Phil’s introduction that Pantera really left their Glam Metal roots.
When Anselmo joined Pantera in 1986, they had released three albums. The bashing metal is “in vogue” and Pantera wants to turn to this new trend. They hired 18-year-old Anselmo as their new lead singer and released their fourth album, Power Metal, in 1988. After the album was released, Pantera changed their image, eventually signing a major recording deal, which was then commercialized. The success of Cowboy from Hell. Pantera pioneered a new metal style known as “groove metal”, followed by heavier and heavier albums such as “Vulgar Display of Power” and “Far Beyond Driven”. By 2000, the band was preparing to release their last studio album, Reinventing the Steel. After the last compilation album, Pantera broke up. After Pantera split, Phil focused on his side project Superjoint Ritual. Controversy over Pantera’s breakup continued to erupt, with a fierce rivalry between Anselmo and the band’s guitarist Dimebag Darrell. Anselmo went so far as to say that Darrell “should be severely beaten.” Dimebag was later shot dead in a nightclub in 2004. In 2018, Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul also passed away.
After Pantera, Phil has also worked on projects such as Down, Arson Anthem, Christ Intervention, Southern Isolation, Viking Crown, Eibon and more. Anselmo also started his own record label in 2001 called Housecore Records. The label primarily serves as a vehicle for Phil to release older, unreleased material from his side projects. Housecore eventually merged with Baphomet Records in late 2001. However, the two companies parted ways after just three releases, and Housecore returned to its original form.

health problems
In the mid-’90s, Phil suffered a serious back injury. This resulted in near-constant pain, and Anselmo then turned to substance abuse to treat the disease. Years later, Anselmo eventually underwent surgery for degenerative disc disease. The surgery was a success.
drug abuse
Eventually, Phil began abusing painkillers and muscle relaxants to treat his back pain. Anselmo also began drinking heavily. One thing led to another, and then Phil became addicted to heroin. This influenced his musical career, especially in his stage performances. In 1996, Anselmo went into cardiac arrest from a heroin overdose. He was rescued by paramedics, who later said he was legally dead for “four to five minutes”.
By 2005, Phil had stopped using hard drugs. His decision was largely driven by the fact that he needed to wean off the drugs in order to be licensed for back surgery. After the surgery proved successful, Anselmo remained clean and did not return to drugs. The process required several months of rehab, but he eventually returned to touring and recording. In 2016, Phil quit drinking.

While many of Pantera’s songs took a stance against racism, Anselmo has been plagued by racism allegations throughout his career. In 2016, he gave a Nazi salute to a crowd and shouted “white power” while performing on stage. Anselmo claimed it was a complete misunderstanding and he was joking about the power of white wine. Later, it was revealed that Phil had been “questioned” multiple times by three members of the crowd, who repeatedly called him racist. To provoke them, he apparently salutes the Nazis – even though he doesn’t identify with Nazism.
