Pete Burns is the British singer, songwriter and lead singer of the popular band “Dead or Alive”. He is known for his hit single “You Spin Me Round” and appearing on the reality show “Celebrity Big Brother”. Burns was born on August 5, 1959 in Bebington, Cheshire, his original name is Peter Jozzeppi Burns. His parents are Eva and Francis. Burns attended a Catholic school when he was a child. He dropped out of school at the age of 14.

Burns entered the music industry after working at Probe Records in Liverpool. He founded the “Mystery Girls” group in 1977 and “Nightmares In Wax” in 1979. Burns renamed the group “Dead or Alive” in 1980. The band members include Wayne Hesse, Mike Percy, Steve Coy and Timothy Liver. Their first studio album “Sophisticated Boom Boom” was released by Epic Records in 1984. Their second album Youthquake (1985) ranked 9th in the top 10 of the UK charts. It features the singles “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)”, “Lover Come Back to Me” and “In Too Deep”. Other albums include Nude (1989), Nukleopatra (1995) and Fragile (2000).
In 2006, Burns was a roommate in the fourth issue of “Big Brother” on Channel 4. He finished fifth in the final. He also starred in the “Celebrity Wife Exchange (2008)” and “Body Shock Show (2013)” series. Burns’ first solo single “Jack and Jill Party” was released in 2004. His latest solo work “Never Marry an Icon” was released by Bristar Records in 2010.
