He graduated from Princeton University before moving to Hollywood, California. His first role appeared in the 1972 film “Peace of Separation”. From 1977 to 1978, Stevenson played Frank Hardy on the television series The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries.

From 1984 to 1985 he played Joel McCarthy on the Falcon Crest series. Parker played Billy Hazzard in the 1986 TV miniseries “North and South” and Austin James in the 1988 TV series “The Probe.” In 1993, he played Steve McMilan repeatedly in the Melrose Square series. From 1989 to 1999, Stevenson played Craig Pomeroy on the television series Baywatch. He also starred in the films Our Time, Lifeguard, Stroker Ace, Stitches, Rough Ridin’ Justice, Caddy Woodlawn, Not of This Earth, Loaded and McTaggart’s Fortune.
