Ozzy Osbourne is a British singer, songwriter and reality TV star. He is the lead singer of the rock band Black Sabbath. His solo projects include the album Blizzard of Ozz (1980), The Ultimate Sin (1986) and No More Tears (1991). Osbourne starred in the reality show series “The Osbournes” with his family. His film works include Trick or Treat (1986), Jerky Boys: Movies (1995) and Austin Powers in the Gold Membership (2002). He voiced the animated films Gnomeo & Juliet (2011) and Sherlock Gnomes (2018).
Oz was born on December 3, 1948 in Birmingham, England, as John Michael Osborne. His mother Lillian is a factory worker, and his father Jack is a tool manufacturer for General Electric. He has siblings, Jean, Gillian, Iris, Tony and Paul. At the age of 15, Osborne dropped out of school due to dyslexia and other learning disabilities. He has done a series of odd jobs and was sentenced to short-term imprisonment for theft.

Osbourne was inspired to become a musician after hearing the Beatles’ 1963 song “She Loves You” on the radio. He became a member of Black Sabbath, whose self-titled debut album was released in 1970. Black Sabbath released 19 studio albums between 1970 and 2013. Notable ones include Paranoia (1970), Reality Master (1971), and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973). Their last full-length work, 13, was released in June 2013 by Vertigo Records and Universal Music Group.
Osborn temporarily left Black Sabbath in 1979 to focus on his solo career. He released his successful debut solo album Blizzard of Ozz on September 12, 1980. It peaked at number 7 in the UK and number 21 on the US Billboard 200. His second album “The Diary of a Madman” arrived in November 1981. Osborne released nine more albums between 1983 and 2010, including Bark Under the Moon (1983), The Ultimate Sin (1986), No More Tears (1991) and The Scream (year 2010). His contribution to the heavy metal genre earned him the title of “Heavy Metal Godfather”.
In addition to music, Osborne is also an actor and reality TV star. He starred in his family in the MTV reality show The Osbournes. The show premiered in 2002 and ran for 4 seasons. Osborn played the supporting role of the priest “Aaron Gilstrom” in the horror film Trick or Treat (1986). He then had a small role as band manager in The Jerky Boys: The Movie (1995). He made a cameo appearance with Adam Sandler in Little Nicky (2000) and with Mike Myers in Goldmember (2002) as Austin Bower Austin Powers.
Osborn is currently starring in the reality series “Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour” with his children Jack and Kelly. The third season was completed in August 2018. In addition to screen roles, Osborne also dubbed a few popular movies. He dubbed the character “Fawn” for Gnomeo & Juliet (2011) and Sherlock Gnomes (2018). He also has voice acting roles on the TV series South Park, The Hook, and Bubble Guppies.
