Noel Darleen Neill is an American actress best known for playing “Louis Lane” in the early Superman films. She was born on November 25, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His father David was a journalist and her mother was a stage dancer. In 1938, she completed her high school education.
Profession
Before acting, Neil tried dancing, singing and modeling. She has performed in many Hollywood nightclubs such as Ciro’s, Macombo and Cafe Trocadero. Neil is the second most popular model after Betty Grable. She also performed with Bob Crosby and his orchestra. She was later signed by Bing Crosby to sing at the Del Mar Turf Club in California.
Neal signed with Paramount Pictures in the early 1940s. She appeared in the films Here Come the Waves (1944) and Bring on the Girls (1945). Neal played the aggressive reporter “Betty Rogers” in Sam Katzman’s 1946 musical comedy “The Boys.” She played the role of “Louis Lane” in the film series Superman (1948), followed by Atomic Man vs Superman (1950). Neal reprised the role of journalist Louis Lane in the “Superman Adventures” television series from 1953 to 1958. Other movie appearances include Did You Have? (1948), Wuthering Heights (1951) and Superman Returns (2006) with Brandon Ross.

Noel Neill passed away on July 3, 2016 at the age of 95. She fractured her hip at her Arizona home in 2010. There is no official cause of death report. Neil is 5-foot-4 and has a net worth of $2 million. She married Hal Lierley in October 1943, but the marriage was annulled. She was married to her second husband, “William Behrens” from 1953-62, followed by her third husband, “Joel Taylor”, from 1963-71. She has no children.
