Nick Menza is a musician, songwriter and former Megadeth drummer. He played popular songs such as “Holy War”, “Symphony of Destruction” and “Trust”. Menza was born on July 23, 1964 in Munich, West Germany. His father Don is an American jazz musician. Menza started playing drums when he was very young. His first public performance was when he was two years old. He was influenced by artists such as Buddy Rich, Steve Gadd, and Jeff Porcaro.

Menza started his career with Rhoads and released his first record “Into the Future” in 1985. He then played for Cold Fire and worked as a technician for Megadeth drummer Chuck Behler. Menza officially joined Megadeth in 1989 and released the album “Rust in Peace” the following year. This album has received platinum certification in the United States and Canada. Menza is famous for using the Greg Voelker rack system. Other early recordings include Countdown to Extinction (1992), Youthanasia (1994) and Cryptic Writings (1997).
From 1992 to 1996, Menza performed with guitarist Marty Friedman and his band. He played drums for the albums Scenes (1992), Introduction (1994) and True Obsessions (1996). Over the years, Menza has collaborated with several other bands, including Memorain, Orphaned to Hatred and Deltanaut. In 2004, he briefly returned to the Megadeth lineup.

Nick Menza passed away on May 21, 2016, at the age of 51. According to reports, his cause of death was congestive heart failure. He suddenly passed out and died during a stage performance in Los Angeles. Menza’s parents Don and Rose and his two children Dante and Nicholas survived.
