Nicholas Pritzker II Net Worth: Nicholas Pritzker II is an American entrepreneur and investor with a net worth of $1.4 billion. Born Nicholas J. Pritzker in Chicago, Illinois in 1944, he serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hyatt Developments, a hotel and motel real estate development and management company.
As a Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago and heir to the Pritzker family’s Hyatt Hotels Corporation, he got his first taste of fortune. Nicholas Pritzker is the nephew of AN Pritzker, founder of the industrial conglomerate Marmon Holdings and Hyatt Hotels, and his sons Jay and Robert. Although Marmon was sold to Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway in 2007, the enlarged Pritzker family continued to sell jointly owned assets. Over the years, Pritzker has further expanded his inherited wealth, primarily through his new hotel development work and his smart investments. Speaking of his acquisitions, he invested an unspecified amount in Tesla Motors, the well-known electric car company, through his investment partnership, Tao LLC. After retiring in 2009, he devoted himself fully to the active fight against the death penalty. In his effort, he teamed up with Netflix CEO Reed Hastings and DFS co-founder Chuck Feeney to quash California’s death sentence in the 2012 election. Although Pritzker and Feeney each contributed $1 million to the repeal bill, the outcome was unsuccessful as voters chose to keep the controversial law.
