Monica Puig is a Puerto Rican tennis player and Olympic gold medalist. She became the first male or female athlete to win an Olympic gold medal for Puerto Rico. Puig was born Monica Puig Marchan on September 27, 1993 in Hato Rey, San Juan. Her parents are Jose and Astrid. She has an older brother named Ricky. Puig attended Laurel Springs School, followed by Indiana University East. She is pursuing a degree in Communication Studies.
