Moise Safra Net Worth: Moise Safra is a Brazilian banker with a net worth of $2.2 billion. Moise Safra is best known as one of the founders of Banco Safra, a local Brazilian bank that ranks tenth among the country’s largest industry financial institutions in terms of total assets.
Safra was born into a wealthy banking family in Lebanon in 1935, when his father Jacob Safra moved them to Brazil when he was 17. There, Safras began financing trade letters of credit in São Paulo. Also involved in the business were Moise Safra and his brothers Edmond Safra and Joseph Safra, who eventually founded Banco Safra. In 2006, he decided to sell his half of Banco Safra, as well as Safra-owned banks in New York, Luxembourg and elsewhere, to his brother Joseph for an estimated $2 billion. Moise Safra also made headlines in 2012 when he bought an $80 million office building in London. Most recently, he is said to have teamed up with Chinese real estate billionaire Zhang Xin to buy a 40 percent stake in the General Motors Building in Midtown Manhattan.
