Mike Posner is an American singer/songwriter, music producer and poet. He is one-half of Blackbear’s hip-hop duo “Mansionz”. Posner is known for hits such as “Cooler Than Me”, “Please Don’t Go” and “I took medicine in Ibiza (Seeb Remix)”. His records include 31 Minutes to Takeoff (2010), At Night, Alone. (2016) and the upcoming “True Good Boy” (2019). He is currently signed to RCA and Island Records. Posner was born on February 12, 1988 in Detroit, Michigan, to Roberta Henrion and Jon Posner. His father is a lawyer. He has an older sister named Emily. Posner attended Groves High School and Duke University. He graduated in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.

Posner started using his mother’s computer to make beats when he was 13 years old. He created his first famous project “Reflections on Lost Teenagers” in the fourth grade of high school. Posner will eventually intern at a rap radio station in downtown Detroit. During his tenure, he met the rapper Big Sean and became good friends. Posner released two albums of poetry: “I was Born in Detroit on a Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Cold Day” (2018) and “Teardrops and Balloons” (2018). His third studio album “A Real Good Kid” is scheduled to be released in January 2019. The first two singles of the album are “Songs About You” and “Stuck In The Middle”.

In addition to his personal career, Posner is also a member of the hip-hop duo Mansionz. The other member is singer/songwriter Matthew Musto, who is better known by the name Black Bear. The group was established in 2016 in Los Angeles, California. Their debut work of the same name was released in March 2017. It produced the singles “Rich White Girls”, “Wicked” and G-Eazy, and “Stfu” and Spark Master Tape. The album also invited guest appearances by Soren Bryce, Dennis Rodman and Cyhi the Prynce. Posner’s songwriting includes Justin Bieber’s 2012 “Boyfriend” and Labrinth’s “Beneath Your Beautiful”.
