Mike Colter is an American actor known for his protagonists in the Netflix network TV series Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. He was born on August 26, 1976 in Columbia, South Carolina, to his parents Eddie Lee Colter Sr. and his wife. He is the cousin of actress Viola Davis. Colt grew up in St. Matthews, South Carolina, where he attended Calhoun County High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in drama from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in acting from Rutgers University.
Profession
After watching the 1984 feature film “The Soldier’s Tale”, Colt was inspired to become an actor. As a result, he became a member of the high school drama club and later the chairman of the club. His mentor was Scott Blanks, a drama professor at Benedict College, and later William Esper from Mason Gross College of Art.
Colt made his debut in the TV series “ER” and “The Parkers” in 2002. His first film role was “Big Willie Little” in “Million Dollar Baby” (2004) with Clint Eastwood. Other film appearances include Salt with Angelina Jolie (2010), Men in Black with Will Smith 3 (2012) and Dark Thirty Zero with Jessica Chastain (2012). Coulter played “Malcolm Ward” in the Ringer series and “Ramond Bishop” in “The Good Wife.” He also played “Luke Cage” in the Netflix series Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Colt is also known for his role as “Agent Jameson Rock” in the “Halo” series.
