Mika Brzezinski is an American television host, news presenter and author. She is best known for co-hosting the morning news show “Morning Joe” on MSNBC. Before that, she was an anchor and reporter for CBS News. Mika Emilie Leonia Brzezinski was born on May 2, 1967 in New York City. Her father, Zbigniew, is a foreign policy expert, and her mother, Emilie Anna, is a sculptor. She has two brothers, Ian and Mark. Brzezinski attended Madeira School in McLean, Virginia, and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She transferred to Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, where she graduated in 1989 with a BA in English.

Brzezinski began her career as a journalist in 1990. Her first major job was as an assistant on ABC’s This Morning’s World News. After a year at ABC, she moved to the Fox affiliate “WTIC-TV” in Hartford, Connecticut. There, she worked as a local news reporter and anchor. She joined CBS affiliate “WFSB-TV” in 1992. Brzezinski made his CBS News debut in 1997. She was a reporter and anchor for CBS News Up to the Minute. During her tenure, she covered several major events, including the “September 11, 2001 attacks” in Manhattan, New York. She has also contributed to shows such as CBS Sunday Morning and “60 Minutes.”
Brzezinski worked briefly with MSNBC in 2001 as co-anchor of the show Homepage. She officially joined the network in January 2007. She made early contributions to shows like “Up To The Minute,” “NBC Nightly News,” and “Weekend Today.” Brzezinski currently co-hosts “Morning Joe” with Joe Scarborough. Journalist Willie Geist is also the co-anchor of the show. The show airs on MSNBC weekdays from 6:00 am to 9:00 am ET. Brzezinski made cameos in the film Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) with Anna Kendrick and the campaign with Will Ferrell (2012).
In addition to television, Brzezinski is a visiting scholar at the Harvard School of Political Science at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Her first memoir, All Things at Once, was published in 2010. The book became a New York Times bestseller. Her other publications include Knowing Your Worth: Women, Money, and Getting Your Worth (2011), Obsession: America’s Food Addiction and My Own (2014) and Growing Your Worth: Reaching Your Full Potential (2015). All four books are published by Weinstein Books.
