Miguel Jontel Pimentel is an American RnB singer, songwriter, actor and producer. He is famous for his 2012 “Kaleidoscope Dream” album and the Grammy Award-winning single “Adorn”. He was born on October 23, 1985 in San Pedro, Los Angeles, California. His Mexican-American father is good at jazz, funk, rock and classical music. On the other hand, his African-American mother became interested in the old school RnB. As a result, Miguel was introduced into a wide range of music genres at a very young age. At the age of 8, his parents divorced and separated. Since then, he has spent most of his time with his mother. He started writing songs at the age of 13, and continued to do so throughout high school. In high school, he was introduced to the production company “Drop Squad”. He will continue to hone his music and learn his knowledge of the studio.

Miguel’s career began in 2004, when he signed with the independent record company Black Ice. In 2006, they released his first studio album “Young and Free” together. The album was under-publicized and the result was disappointing. He parted ways with Black Ice because he did not approve of the way his music was handled. In 2007, Miguel signed with Jive Records. Due to Hei Bing’s lawsuit, his second album “All I Want Is You” took several years to release. The lawsuit was due to a breach of contract. In 2010, the album was finally released. At first, it started poorly, but in overtime. Singles featuring “Sure Thing” and “Quickie” are very popular among urban audiences. This album spent nearly a year on the Billboard charts, and it was ranked 37th.
Soon after, RCA and artists including Miguel acquired Jive Records. In October 2012, Miguel released his next album “Kaleidoscope Dream”. The album became an instant hit, ranking No. 3 in the Billboard 200. The popular track “Adorn” quickly became popular and attracted the attention of mainstream listeners. In 2013, “Adorn” won the Grammy Award for Best RnB Song. Throughout his career, Miguel has worked with Arthur, Tre Songz, Mariah Carey, and Arthur Ross among others. In an incident called “Miguel Leg Drop” in 2013, Miguel failed to jump over the performance stage and fell on two women. It caused a huge sensation on social media platforms. He released two more albums: “Wildheart” in 2015 and “War & Leisure” in 2017. “Wildheart” was nominated for the Grammy Awards for Best Urban Contemporary Album. In addition to music, Miguel also played a Cuban-American thug in the crime drama Nightlife (2016).
