Michel Delpech is a French singer, songwriter and actor. He was born on January 26, 1946 in Courbevoie, Haute-Seine, France. His early influences included artists such as Charles Aznavour and Gilbert Bercord. Delpech signed with Disques Vogue at the age of 17 and released his debut single “Anatole” in 1963. He formed a friendship with composer Roland Vincent, and in 1964 he signed with the French music festival record label. His debut album, Inventaire 66, was released in 1966. Delpech is known for records such as “Chez Laurette”, “Wight Is Wight” and “Pour Un Flirt”. As an actor, he played “François Gulio” in the French film “The Favourite” (2011). He married his first wife, Chantal Simon, in 1966 and his second wife, Geneviève Garnier-Fabre, in 1985. He has four children together, including guitarist Emmanuel. Michel Delpech passed away on January 2, 2016 at the age of 69. His cause of death was reportedly throat cancer.
