Michael Steinhardt net worth: Michael Steinhardt is an American hedge fund manager, investor, publisher and philanthropist, with a net worth of US$1.2 billion. Michael Steinhardt was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1940 and graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967, he founded Steinhardt, Fine, Berkowitz & Co.. This makes him one of the most well-known hedge fund managers in the United States. The group was later named Steinhardt Partners, and the average annualized rate of return for its clients was 24.5%. In the early 1990s, the company was under federal investigation for suspected manipulation of the short-term Treasury bond market. Steinhardt Partners was fined $70 million; Steinhardt paid 75% of the fees, but never admitted to wrongdoing. At the end of 1995, the hedge fund closed down and Steinhardt retired for nearly ten years. In 2004, he worked at Index Development Partners, Inc., which soon became WisdomTree Investments, and Steinhardt is now the chairman of the company. He is an active philanthropist, mainly dedicated to Jewish causes, including Taglit-Birthright Israel, the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development at New York University, and the Hebrew College of the United States. His autobiography “No Bull: My Life in and out of Markets” was published in 2001. This antique art collector and his wife Judy have three children.
