Michael Douglas is an Oscar-winning American actor and filmmaker. His acting credits include the films “Wall Street” (1987), “The President of the United States” (1995) and the TV series “Streets of San Francisco”. Douglas was born on September 25, 1944 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. His parents were actors Diana and Kirk Douglas. He grew up with three brothers Joel, Peter and Eric. Douglas attended Choate Rosemary Hall and then UC Santa Barbara. Graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama.

Douglas began his professional acting career in the late 1960s. His first notable role was as “Inspector Steve Keller” on the ABC crime drama The Streets of San Francisco. From 1972 to 1976, he served for a total of four seasons. His performance earned him three Emmy nominations. Douglas served as executive producer of the comedy film One Flying Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975). The film starred Jack Nicholson and won five Oscars, including one for Best Picture.
Douglas played “Jack Colton” in “Romantic Stone” (1984) with Danny DeVito and Kathleen Turner. A year later, the role was reprised in Jewels of the Nile (1985). Douglas won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as “Gordon Gecko” in the film “Wall Street” (1987). Featured films include “The President of the United States” (1995) with Annette Bening, “Wonder Boy” (2000) with Tobey Maguire and “The Lonely Man” with Jenna Fischer (2009). In 2013, Douglas played “Liberace” in the HBO drama “Behind the Candlestick.” The film also stars Matt Damon.
