Mase is an American rapper, pastor, and motivational speaker. He was formerly known as Murda Mase. He made his mark on P. Diddy’s label Bad Boy Records. His records include Harlem World (1997), Double Up (1999) and Welcome Back (2004). Mase was born on August 27, 1975 in Jacksonville, Florida, and was formerly known as Mason Durell Betha. His parents are PK and Mason “lucky father” Bertha. He has a twin sister named Stassen. He also has four older brothers and sisters. Mase spent his childhood in Harlem, New York before moving back to Florida at the age of 13. He returned to New York two years later. Mase showed his potential as a basketball player while studying at the Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics. He won a sports scholarship purchased by the State University of New York. Later in his career, he studied mathematics at Clark Atlanta University.

Mase was a member of the rap group “Sons of Corn” in the 1990s. The other members are Big L, Bloodshed, Cam’ron and Herb McGruff. They were active from 1993 to 1999.
