He went on to graduate from Queens College. He began composing music for various artists and released his first hit “Sunshine, Lollipop and Rainbow” in 1965. The song was recorded by Lesley Gore and peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. Incredibly prolific and successful career, winning four Emmys, three Oscars, one Tony and four Grammys (EGOT). This makes him one of only 11 EGOTs in history. He also won a Pulitzer Prize. He is one of only two people to receive all five honors. He also won two Golden Globes. He passed away in August 2012.
