Glen Electrics acquired Dimplex, the UK’s leading electric heating brand, in 1977 and became the Glen Dimplex Group. They went on to acquire Morphy Richards, Blanella and Burco Dean Appliances. Dr. Norton was an engineer who led the company to become the world’s largest manufacturer of home heating equipment. The company has factories in the UK, Republic of Ireland and North America. Naughton holds stakes in the Merrion Hotel Group and the Sunday Tribune newspaper. Norton funded an annual scholarship program at his alma mater and made donations to Trinity College Dublin and the University of Notre Dame. He is married and has three children. Before founding Glen Electric, he worked for an airline and an electrical company. He is an art collector and lives in Maeth, Ireland.
