Laird had an auspicious start when he was 17 when he was awarded a golf scholarship at Colorado State University. He coached under Jamie Berme and had several wins that made him a member of the All-Mountain Western Conference Trials. In 2004, just after he graduated from college, he began playing as a professional golfer. At that moment, he decided to see if he could make a living on the PGA Tour and never looked back. Martin Laird has won three PGA Tour titles to date, including the 2011 Arnold Palmer Invitational. Interestingly, Laird was the only Scottish golfer on the PGA Tour until Russell Knox got his card through the 2011 National Tour.
