Early life and career:
Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg was born on June 5, 1971 in Dorchester, Boston, Massachusetts. He is the youngest of nine children. A troubled youth, he was sentenced to two years in prison at the age of 16 after pleading guilty to felony assault following the violent assault on two Vietnamese men in 1988. He ended up serving only 45 days in prison. He has also been involved in attacks on various groups of African-American children, including shouting racial epithets.
Wahlberg started his musical career following in the footsteps of his older brother Donnie Wahlberg, the rapper “Marky Mark” who was a member of the boy band New Kids on the Block. Originally, Mark Wahlberg was also part of the group when he was 13, but quit after a few months. After Wahlberg was released from prison, his brother Downey actually helped him get back into music, producing Mark Mark’s debut album. Marky Mark’s 1991 single “Good Vibrations” reached number one on the album “Music for the People” billboard Hot 100 and later platinum. His second album was less successful, but earned him a fan base and a reputation for taking off his pants in public. In 1992, Wahlberg was recruited to model Calvin Klein underwear, and his image was on Times Square billboards for much of that year.

Acting career:
Wahlberg dropped the “Marky Mark” moniker after his debut in the TV movie “The Substitute” (1993). He made his big-screen debut in “Renaissance Man” (1994), but didn’t make his big-screen debut until 1995 with Leonardo DiCaprio’s “The Basketball Diaries.” It just started to get the attention of critics. Wahlberg’s first starring film role was in “Fear” (1996), and his films “Boogie Nights” (1997) and “Three Kings” (1999) went on to earn him acclaim.
In the 2000s, Wahlberg dabbled in big action films such as The Perfect Storm (2000), Planet of the Apes (2001) and The Italian Job (2003).
His performance in Martin Scorsese’s thriller “The Departed” (2006) earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, a Golden Globe for Best Actor and the National Society of Film Critics for Best Supporting Actor prize. His other notable films include What Happened (2008), The Lovely Bones (2009), hit comedies Ted (2012) and Ted 2 (2015), Loneliness Survivor (2013), Transformers: Extinction (2014), Daddy’s Home (2015), Deepwater Horizon (2016), Transformers: The Last Knight (2017) and Instant Family” (2018).
In addition to being an A-list actor, Wahlberg is also a successful producer, having served as a producer on many of the films he starred in. He served as executive producer on the HBO series “Entourage” (2004-2011), which was loosely based on his Hollywood experience. He is also the executive producer of the HBO series “Boardwalk Empire,” “Ballers,” and “How to Make It in America.” As executive producer of Entourage, he makes $3 million a year.
As an actor, he could easily earn $10 million to star in a movie, but would typically accept a lower salary in exchange for a share of the back-end gross.
Wahlberg’s $1.5 million salary for the remake of “All the Money in the World” has been controversial, while his female co-star Michelle Williams was paid less than $1,000 for the job. They had to reshoot parts of the film after actor Kevin Spacey pulled out of production amid allegations of sexual harassment. In response, Wahlberg donated the money to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, which helps pay legal fees for women who experience workplace sexual harassment under the Time’s Up movement.
Endorsements and other venture capital:
In addition to his famous 1992 Calvin Klein partnership, Wahlberg has served as a brand ambassador for several other brands, including health and nutrition brand GNC, where he promoted the “Marked” line of sports nutrition supplements. He also reportedly signed a $10 million deal with AT&T in March 2017 to serve as their spokesperson.
Wahlberg co-owns burger chain Whalburgers with his brothers Donnie and Paul. The Wahlbergs appeared in a reality series based on the chain that aired on A&E from January 2014 to July 2019. In July 2013, Wahlberg became part-owner of the Barbados cricket team. In 2015, he hired rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs and billionaire investor Ron Burkle to invest in a bottled water company called Aquahydrate. He is also the co-founder of a sports nutrition company called Performance Inspired. In 2017, he participated in a $6 million funding round for sneaker resale marketplace StockX. real estate:
In 2001, Mark bought a house in Beverly Hills for $4.95 million. He put the house on the market in 2015 for $30 million. In April 2018, Wahlberg sold the home for $12.4 million.
Today, his primary residence is an absolutely stunning estate in the gated Beverly Park neighborhood of Beverly Hills. Wahlberg and his wife purchased one of the last remaining undeveloped lots in Beverly Park for $8.25 million in May 2009. Set on 6 acres, he hired famed architect Richard Landry to design a 30,000-square-foot main house that turned out to be a bit ridiculous (in a good way). Construction costs alone could exceed $20 million. End products include golf courses, basketball courts, large swimming pools, movie theaters, and more.
To summarize:
Mark Wahlberg has a net worth of $350 million. He was originally known as the rapper “Marky Mark”. He eventually became a sought-after actor, producer and entrepreneur. Mark and family are the founders of the Wahlberg restaurant chain.
