He started training boxers with Golden Glove coach Rerinaldi and won four New York State titles including the New York Golden Glove Championship. Mello broke his nose in an accident that put his boxing career on hold. He decided to become a professional wrestler and began wrestling pro wrestling in Florida’s Costa del Sol in 1991. Mero is known as Johnny BBadd when he competes in the WCW World Television Championship. He wrestled for the World Wrestling Federation under the names “Wildman” Marc Mero and “Marvelous” Marc Mero from 1996 to 1999 and won the Intercontinental Championship. He also appeared with X Wrestling Federation and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). Mark was married to wrestler Rena “Sable” Mero from 1994 to 2004 and to Darlene Spezzi in 2009. He founded Champion of Choices, a nonprofit organization, in 2007.
