Mark Halperin is an American writer, anchor and columnist. He has worked with MSNBC, Bloomberg TV, Bloomberg Politics and Time Magazine. He co-authored the book Game Change (2010) and Double Down: Game Change 2012 (2013). Mark Evan Halperin was born on January 11, 1965 into a Jewish family in Bethesda, Maryland. His father Morton is a foreign policy expert. His mother is Ina Yang. He has two brothers, David and Gary. Halperin attended Walt Whitman High School, followed by Harvard University. He graduated in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree.

Halperin started his career as a journalist at ABC News in 1988. He started as a desktop assistant and later became a researcher on their flagship show “World News Tonight”. His next position is as a foreign correspondent in Washington. Halperin reported on Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign as a non-live producer. He also served as the producer of ABC special events in New York. Halperin has been the political director of ABC News for 10 years since 1997. During his tenure, he often appeared in some TV and radio programs on the network. He also founded and served as the editor of “The Note”. Halperin was promoted to a political analyst for ABC News in March 2007. In the same year, he was hired as a contributing editor and political analyst for Time Magazine.
Halperin’s first book The Way to Win: Take the White House in 2008 was published in October 2006. It is co-authored with John F. Harris. He collaborated with reporter John Heilemann on “Game Change” (2010) and “Double Down: Game Change 2012” (2013). In 2012, the book “Game Change” was made into a political drama by HBO. It is directed by Jay Roach and starring Julianne Moore, Woody Harrison and Ed Harris. Halperin joined MSNBC in 2010 as a senior political analyst. He also served as a political analyst for Bloomberg TV and a writer for Bloomberg politics. Since 2014, he co-hosted the talk show “With All Due Respect” until it was cancelled in January 2017. He co-hosted the Showtime documentary series “Circus: The Greatest Political Show on Earth” (2016-17) with John Hellman and Mark McKinnon.
