Mark Cuban is an American entrepreneur, businessman and philanthropist. He owns the Landmark Theater, Magnolia Pictures and the Dallas Mavericks basketball team. He is also famous for the reality TV series “Shark Tank”. Cuban was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 31, 1958, to Norton and Shirley. He has a younger brother, Brian, who is a lawyer and writer. Cuban studied at the University of Pittsburgh and then at Indiana University in Bloomington. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1981.

Cuban worked as a bartender and later as a software salesman. He founded his first startup, MicroSolutions, in 1983. The company was sold to CompuServe in 1990 for $6 million. Cuban and Todd Wagner co-founded AudioNet in 1995. The company changed its name to Broadcast.com and went public in 1998. Broadcast.com was acquired by Yahoo! Sold for $6 billion the following year. Cuban became the majority shareholder of the Dallas Mavericks in 2000. He transformed the team and led them to an NBA championship in 2011.
Cuban and Wagner established the media group “2929 Entertainment” in 2003. Their assets include Landmark Theatres, Magnolia Pictures, HDNet Films and AXS TV. Their film works include Akeelah and the Bee (2006), Turistas (2006) and The Road (2009). Cuban was a contestant of ABC Dance with the Stars in 2007. He became an investor in the reality show “Shark Tank” in 2012. The show won Primetime Emmy Awards consecutively in 2014 and 2015.
Cuban in the 2015 Syfy TV movie “Shark Cyclone 3: Oh, No Hell!” “” was elected president “Marcus Robbins”. He has guest appearances on Entourage, Real Time with Bill Maher and Girl Meets World. In 2011, he co-authored the e-book “How to Win in Business Sports”.
