Marilu Henner is an American actress best known for her role on the ABC sitcom Taxi. She is also a reality TV star, radio host and author. Henner was born on April 6, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents, Loretta and Joseph, died at the age of 58 and 52, respectively. She has five siblings, Lorin, Tommy, Melody, JoAnn and Christal. Henner grew up in Logan Square and attended Wilton Madonna High School. She continued her education at the University of Chicago.

Henna has been taking dance lessons since she was a toddler. She excelled, and by the age of 14 she was teaching dance lessons in her family’s studio. Henner began playing the role of “Marty” in the 1971 production of Grease. She dropped out of college in 1972 to travel and perform with John Travolta and crew.
