Marian Williamson is an American best-selling author, AIDS activist and spiritual lecturer. Her publications include “Return to Love”, “The Gift of Change” and “Healing the Soul of America.” She is a good friend of Oprah Winfrey. Williamson announced his candidacy for the president of the United States in January 2019. She ran for the election as a Democrat. In 2014, she failed to run for a seat in the California Congress as an independent candidate.

Her debut work stayed on the New York Times bestseller list for 39 weeks. It also won her cameo appearances on TV shows like the Oprah Winfrey Show. As of April 2019, Williamson has published 13 books. Samples of her publications include Healing in America (1997), Women’s Value (1993), Illuminati: Prayer for Return (1993), and Politics of Love (2019). Her book has been translated and sold all over the world.
Williamson started her political career in 2014. That year, she ran for a seat in the 33rd Congressional District of California. She finished the game in 4th place (16 in total) and spent nearly 2 million U.S. dollars. Although unsuccessful, she did get the endorsements of Jennifer Granholm, Van Jones, Laura Dunn and Dennis Kuccinic. Williamson supported Bernie Sanders during Sanders’ 2015 presidential campaign.
Williamson returned to the forefront of politics in 2019, this time as a Democrat. On January 29, 2019, she officially announced her 2020 campaign to seek the Democratic Party’s nomination for the 2020 presidential campaign. In May 2019, Williams reached the donation benchmark of 65,000 donations. She also reached the voting benchmark of 1% approval rate in 3 pre-election votes. Williamson supports universal healthcare, a complete path to citizenship, universal preschool education, and marriage equality.
