He made his Major League Baseball debut on July 27, 2002 as a member of the New York Mets. Scutaro played for the Mets from 2002 to 2003, when he joined the Oakland Athletics, where he played from 2004 to 2007.
From there, he became a member of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2008 and 2009, followed by the Boston Red Sox in 2010 and 2011.
