Manny Pacquiao is a Filipino professional boxer and the first and only eighth division world champion. He was born on December 17, 1978 in Kibawe, Bukidnon. He moved to Manila as a teenager to pursue boxing. He made his debut against Edmund Ignacio in 1995. Pacquiao won his first Grand Slam title in 1998, beating Thailand’s Chatchai Sasakul. He went on to win ten world titles, as well as four straight titles in different weight classes. He was awarded the BWAA Warrior of the Year award in 2006, 2008 and 2009.
