Marvin Minsky is the American cognitive scientist, writer and father of artificial intelligence. He was born in New York City on August 9, 1927. He attended Bronx Science High School and Massachusetts Phillips College. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1945, thus avoiding military conscription.
Minsky completed his bachelor and doctorate degrees. Received a PhD in mathematics from Harvard (1950) and Princeton (1954). He joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1958 and co-founded their AI laboratory in 1959. He became the author of several publications, including “The Society of Mind (1986)” and “The Emotion Machine (2006)”.
Marvin Minsi died on January 24, 2016 at the age of 88. The cause of his death was a cerebral hemorrhage. In 1953, he married the doctor’Gloria Rudisch’ and had three children. Margaret, Julie and Henry. He has won many prestigious awards for his contributions, including the “Turing Award (1969)”, “Benjamin Franklin Medal (2001)” and “BBVA Foundation Knowledge Frontier Award (2013)”.
