Linda McMahon is the former President and CEO of WWE. She is a politician and a member of the Republican Party. She was appointed administrator of the Small Business Administration by elected President Donald Trump in December 2016. McMahon was born Linda Marie Edwards on October 4, 1948, in New Bern, North Carolina. Her parents are Henry and Evelyn Edwards. She has no siblings. McMahon attended Havelock High School, followed by East Carolina University. She graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education.

After college, McMahon worked as a receptionist at the Washington law firm of Covington & Burling. There, she trained as a paralegal. She also studied intellectual property and contract negotiation. McMahon and her husband founded Titan Sports in 1980. They acquired Capitol Wrestling (WWF) in 1982. McMahon was WWE’s Operations Manager from 1980 to 2009. She is credited with introducing the wrestling superstar action figures in 1984. McMahon served as WWE President from 1993-2000 and CEO from 1997-2009. She is currently a shareholder in WWE.
A politician, McMahon served on the Connecticut State Board of Education from January 2009 to April 2010. She ran unsuccessfully for a U.S. Senate seat from Connecticut in 2010. She lost the general election to Democratic candidate Richard Blumenthal. She ran again in 2012, but was defeated by Democrat Chris Murphy. McMahon reportedly spent a combined $100 million on the two failed campaigns. In December 2016, she was nominated by President Donald Trump’s small business executive.
