early life
Percy Romeo Miller, better known by his stage name Romeo (originally Lil Romeo), was born on August 19, 1989 in New Orleans, Louisiana. His parents, Master P and Sonya C, are rappers, he is the nephew of rappers C-Murder and Silkk the Shocker, cousin of singer/rapper Mo B. Dick, and brother of singer/actress Cymphonique Miller.
music career
Romeo’s career started very early. At the age of five, he wrote rap for his father, Master P, and signed with Soulja Music Entertainment, a subsidiary of Infinite Records. Seven years later, he released his debut album, Lil. ‘Romeo” (2001) with No Limit, which included the No. 1 single “My Baby”. The album performed well, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard 200, selling over 200,000 copies in its first week. Ultimately, it Certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
His second studio album, “Game Time”, was released in 2002 and peaked at number 33 on the Billboard 200 and number 10 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Although it did not perform as well on the music charts as his debut album, it was a commercial hit, selling 2,500,000 copies in the United States. His third studio album, “Romeoland,” released in 2004 with The New No Limit and Koch, again failed charts, peaking at number 70 on the Billboard 200. However, it was again a commercial success with over 250,000 copies in the US. This was the last album to be titled “Lil’ Romeo”.

In 2005, Romeo co-founded the record label Guttar Music Entertainment with his father. That same year, he formed the rap group Rich Boyz with brother Valentino Miller and their cousins C-Los, Lil’D and Willie J. The band released their debut album “Young Ballers: The Hood Been Good to Us” on November 22, 2005 via Guttar Music, but eventually disbanded. In April 2006, Romeo released his first solo project via Guttar Music, his first digital album “Lottery”. It is distributed not only by Guttar Music, but also in partnership with UrbanDigital and GoDigital Music Group. This is his first album under the name “Romeo”. The second digital album “God’s Gift” was released in December of the same year.
Romeo continued to work with his father and in 2007 co-founded the private label Take A Stand Records. That same year, they formed the group Miller Boyz and released the album “Hip Hop History” in September. He continued his musical career, releasing his solo album “Gumbo Station” in 2008 and his compilation album “Get Low LP” in March 2009. In late 2008, Romeo formed the record label The Next Generation Entertainment, with his then group, the College Boyys. The College Boyys released their first album, Spring Break, in May 2010, selling over 30,000 copies worldwide. Romeo has won three Billboard Awards, including 2001’s Rap Artist of the Year.

In addition to music, Romeo also has a career in acting. His first appearance was a cameo in the film “Max Keeble’s Big Move” (2001), followed by a co-starring role with Jessica Alba, Mekhi Phifer and Zachary Isaiah Williams in the film “Honey” (2003). His other film projects include “God’s Gift” (2006), “Uncle P” (2007), “ASL” (2007), “Broom Jump” (2011) and “Madea’s Witness Protection” (2012). He also starred in the Nickelodeon sitcom “Romeo!” from 2003 to 2006 playing a fictional version of himself. He was a contestant on season 12 of the popular dance competition reality show Dancing with the Stars. He teamed up with professional dancer Chelsie Hightower, and the pair made the top 5. His other TV appearances include “Millionaire Matchmaker” (2015), “The Challenge: Champions and Stars” (2017) and “The Celebrity Fear Factor” (2018). He has also hosted the MTV reality show “Ex on the Beach” since 2018.
His various entrepreneurial pursuits include launching his own clothing line, College Boyys, in July 2010, and appearing in television commercials for McDonald’s and ICDC College. Additionally, Romeo enjoyed a successful high school and college basketball career, playing for Windward High, Beverly Hills High and USC.
