Two years later, while signing with Chess Records, the group changed its name to The Four Tops. In 1963, the talented band achieved a major breakthrough and signed with Motown Records. The Four Tops became one of the best-selling bands of the 1960s as they produced a string of hits by the end of the century. To date, they have sold over 50 million records worldwide. As the most prominent member of the organization, Stubbs was loyal to his team members, turning down many proposals for a solo career.
