Riley met stuntman Ben Smith-Peterson on the set of “Mad Max: Fury Road” and they were married on February 4, 2015 in Napa, California. Actress Dakota Johnson served as a bridesmaid, with Zoe Kravitz also in attendance, along with Kristen Stewart and Cara Delevingne. Keough, who previously dated actor Alex Pettyfer, got engaged in March 2012 after six months of dating.
Riley’s brother Benjamin committed suicide on July 12, 2020. A week later, Keough spoke about Benjamin’s tragic death, writing on social media: “Mornings are the hardest. I forget you’re gone. I can’t cry because of the fear that will never stop. For me it is New pain. You. There are no words to describe you. Angel is the closest I can think of. Pure light. Baby brother. Best friend. Savage. Intellectual. Witness.”
In March 2021, Riley revealed that she had completed her training to become a death doula, which was described as “a trained non-medical person who can be holistic (physical, emotional and spiritual) in the final stages of life.
