Leland Chapman was born in Groom, Texas in 1976, the son of Duane Chapman, whose first wife was a bounty hunter dog. Chapman lived with his mother as a teenager, joined a gang and was eventually sent away to live with his father.

When he was 17, he started training in mixed martial arts and boxing until a knee injury forced him to retire. He joined Duane’s current wife, Beth, and several other family members in his father’s bail bond company, including his half-sister “Baby” Lysa. The family starred in “Bounty Hunters,” which ran for eight seasons on A&E before entering the syndicate. In 2006, he and his father were arrested and faced extradition charges to Mexico over an incident that occurred while they were chasing alleged serial rapist Andrew Luster at the border. The Mexican government later dropped the charges. Chapman and his brother are the founders of Chapbros Media. He quit “The Bounty Hunter” in a 2012 episode and now owns his own bail company and runs his father’s business. Chapman is married to his wife, Diane, and they have three children.
