Considered the richest woman in South Korea, Lee Myung-hee is the current chairman of retail giant Shinsegae. The daughter of Samsung’s late founder Lee Byung-cheol, she started her career at the tech giant after graduating from Ewha Womans University.
In fact, even the department store franchise she runs today was under the Samsung umbrella for four years. Shinsegae was established in the mid-1950s and spun off from the group in the early 1990s along with Hansong Group, Sehan Group and CJ Group.
