Lee Bass first got rich when he and his three brothers inherited the family fortune founded by oil tycoon uncle Sid Richardson. He is a graduate of Yale University and then completed an MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
After graduating in 1982, he began a six-year tenure with the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife, administered by Governor William P. Clements, Jr. Following his term, Bass was appointed by Governor George W. Bush and he was re-elected for another six years. In addition to his work, Bass was a great philanthropist, serving on the boards of Vanderbilt University, the Sid W. Richardson Foundation, and the Peregrine Foundation. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he also serves as a founding director of the International Rhino Foundation and Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of the Fort Worth Museum of Modern Art. Politically, he was a Republican and supported various groups including George Allen, George W. Bush, Kay Bailey Hutchison, John McCain and Phil Graham Politician’s campaign.
