Lamar Odom is a retired American professional basketball player and reality TV star. He won two NBA championships in seven seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. Lamar Joseph Odom was born on November 6, 1979 in New York City. His father Joe is a disabled veteran and drug addict. He was raised by his mother Cathy Mercer, who died of colon cancer in 1992. Odom studied at Christ King Area High School, then transferred to St. Thomas Aquinas High School in his senior year. He studied at the University of Nevada and the University of Rhode Island.

Odom attracted national attention during his high school basketball career. In 1997, he was named Player of the Year by Parade Magazine. Other high school honors include Parade All-American First Team and USA Today’s All-American First Team. Odom played basketball at the University of Rhode Island for a season. He led the Rams to the 1999 division championship. He was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year and the Atlantic 10 Championship MVP.
Odom was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 4th overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft. He played for the Clippers for four seasons from 1999 to 2003. He was selected to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2000. Odom played for the Miami Heat for a season before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. From 2004 to 2011, he played seven seasons with Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. This long tenure won him back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010. Odom was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2011 and returned to the Clippers in 2012. He also played for Labour Kutxa Baskonia briefly in the Spanish League in 2014.
Outside of sports, Odom is known for appearing in the reality show “Walking with the Kardashian Sisters”. He played himself in “Khloe & Lamar” and appeared in 3 episodes of “Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami”. He also made guest appearances in Jack and Jill (2011) with Adam Sandler and Katie Holmes. Odom will be a contestant in the 28th season of ABC Dance with the Stars.

Odom and his ex-girlfriend Lisa Morales have three children, namely Little Jayden, Little Lamar and Destiny. He married TV personality Khloe Kardashian in 2009. The couple filed for divorce in December 2013, and the divorce documents were signed in July 2015.
On October 13, 2015, Odom was found unresponsive in a brothel in Nevada. He was taken to the Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas. He was in a coma and tested positive for cocaine in his system. Odom’s health improved and he was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. He has fully recovered since then.
